What do you get from a Sundance class?

A Sundance class offers the building blocks of fitness to improve and maintain your physical health.

We use easy-to-follow movement sequences with music from around the world and across the eras to give your body and your brain all the benefits of moving and dancing.

In a Sundance class, movement can be adapted to accommodate different health issues. You will be encouraged to move in ways that suit you.

Every Sundance class incorporates the principles illustrated below.

Muscular strength supports your skeleton, taking pressure off the joints to increase mobility and stability.

Stillness benefits inner calm and brings moments of peace into your day.

Suppleness supports postural alignment and balance.

Increasing your stamina will help you feel more energetic and boost your mood.

Stretch is for improved flexibility, allowing you a greater range of motion and freedom of movement.

Spring is important for joint resilience, increasing bone density and cleaning the lymphatic system.

Penzance

  • Big Dance Company Building
  • Wednesdays
  • 10.30am – 12pm

This class combines seated and standing exercises because sitting on a chair activates your core differently to standing.

We use gentle floor work to increase mobility, a short movement phrase to nourish the brain and body, and movement improvisation to round off the class.

Pendeen

  • Parish Rooms
  • Tuesdays
  • 10-11am

The Pendeen offers a slightly faster pace than the Penzance class.

All the movement is carried out standing and there is a greater focus on building fitness.

Like the Penzance class, we also learn and practice a movement phrase to engage body and brain.

St Just

  • WI Hall
  • Fridays
  • 10-11am

The St Just class follows the same template as the Pendeen class. It’s at a slightly faster pace, involves and all movement is carried out standing.
